A poem on your face

A post-pandemic birth, where light passes through the window, where love comes with spring.

I started reading poems from Ono no Komachi, a Japanese feminist poetess, born during Heian Period (IXth century). This series is inspired by many of her writings, which evoke love, longing, and seasons. New season, new love, new longings after a trouble period of loneliness.

While watching
the long rains falling on this world
my heart, too, fades
with unseen color
of the spring flowers.

Ono no Komachi – translated by Jane Hirshfield and Mariko Arantani
